Mr. Surinder Mehta (1975 batch), founder Chairman of Prime Group, has been awarded Padma Shri by the Government of India this year for his distinguished service in the field of Technology Solutions.

Prime Group - a high technology solution provider to the nation -comprises well-known companies such as PCI Ltd., Planet PCI Infotech Ltd., Prime Meiden Ltd., Prime Power Corporation Ltd. and Endolite India Ltd. among others . The Group was founded in 1986 and has since witnessed a remarkable growth from being a prime idea to a highly diversified multi-activity conglomerate focused on technological innovations particularly relating to core sectors and infrastructure related projects.These companies bring to the country,latest and state-of-the art technologies in the fields of power, electronics production, engineering. precision investment casting, aviation & aerospace, specialized software solutions (for space & defence sectors), as well as technologies that relate to prosthetics & orthotics for social welfare and betterment in the

lives of physically challenged citizens.

Mr. Surinder Mehta also founded ISHWAR - a No nGovernmental Organisation (NGO) - as a charitable society in 1995.Apart from its efforts from its three operational centres at Delhi , Gurgaon and Jaipur, the Society also sets up camps in different parts of the country for fitting high-technology limbs and modem orthotic devices to physically challenged people from economically poorer sections. The Society also runs ISHWAR Institute of Prosthetics & Orthotics (IIPO) for imparting vocational training. IIPO also provides scholarships to meritorious students from the economically weak. ISHWAR has also been associated with "Manny's Caring Hands",an American NGO,and has already carried out very complex surgical corrections of lower limbs to transform lives of over a hundred young children with assistance of Austrian and German surgeons .

Born on 3rd August, 1956, Mr. Surinder Mehta. a self-made entrepreneur, underwent schooling at Modem School, Barakhamba Road, New Delhi. and later received his honours degree in Commerce from Shri Ram College of Commerce, University of Delhi.

In recognition of his humble, yet noteworthy contributions to the economy and to nation-building on technological lines, Mr. Mehta has received several awards during the last 23 years, notable among which are the coveted Distinguished Entrepreneurship Award (PHDCCI); Udyog RattanAward; Priyadarshini Indira Gandhi Award; Rajiv Gandhi Excellence Award; Rattan Shiromani Award; National Business Leadership Award amongst several others.
